VAR-BSD 24G SIDE ALERT

This microwave radar technology enables HGVs to detect cars, motorbikes, cyclists and pedestrians in blind spots.

1) The radar is fitted under the chassis or at the rear of the tractor cab. It inspects an area 4 metres wide at the side of the vehicle and 15 metres long from the front of the vehicle to the rear.

If a cyclist is in the area covered by the radar, the driver is immediately warned by an audible and visual signal. (See diagram 1 below)

2) If the radar is installed at the rear of the chassis, this lets the driver know whether he can overtake a vehicle without having any blind spots, and more importantly, the interior light will tell him whether he can safely return to his lane. This avoids the headlights flashing as the truck is overtaken.

Our BMRRC1-720RVM kit is equipped with a millimetre-wave radar camera that detects pedestrians from a distance of 3 metres. The camera is linked to a buzzer, providing a warning in the cab in the event of danger. The kit is coupled with a BMRVM0732MON screen.
